Demo day on the downstairs bathroom

Yesterday was demo day on the downstairs bathroom!
We started by removing the lenoleum floors using the boys' muscles, then the sink and countertop with the vanity came out next!

The most difficult part was moving the toilet, which was probably newly installed by the old owner, but since they did not replace the bolts OR the plastic ring inside the toilet it was extremely difficult to pull out. Once we stripped off the bolts, we also realized it was adhered somehow to the floor, so Brad roughly jiggled it and BOOM!! Broken toilet.

So, as a result, we went to Home Depot to pick out a new toilet in addition to the new sink, faucets, bathroom hardware, and floor tile...

It was quite amusing :)

After the boys finally found the perfect toilet, we picked 2 shades of bathroom tile to compliment, but not match, our new laminate floors!! One was a light cream, and the other a warm gray. I thought a warm gray might be a good addition to our bathroom, but when we took it home, it was too similar to the wall color. The cream tile (top right color in the picture below) is the one we ended up choosing!

As for the bathroom sink, it was between the square, sunk-in or the round, raised bowl (both shown below)

Since it was only a $20 difference between the two, I thought it was a no-brainer to go with the more modern, luxurious raised bowl, and Brad agreed with a little convincing from Adam ;)

Tonight, we will begin the process to tile the floors, if Brad is feeling up to it. Last night, as we were getting into bed, he dropped the bathroom door on his foot!!! :( We had taken it off the hinges and it was laying next to the bed and BAM! His big toe immediately turned purple under the nail and looked like it was about to pop! Poor baby!

Updates soon!
